The fifth edition of the Mansholt lecture will take place in Brussels on Wednesday 23 September 2020.
This year, the Mansholt lecture addresses the challenges and opportunities of responsible digitalisation of agriculture and food production in Europe.
Smart technology and digitalisation are an on- autonomous developments that have already influenced our daily life as a citizen and many sectors/industries. Agriculture and food production is identified as one of the highly localised and fragmented sectors that lag across most dimensions. Nevertheless, it can be expected that also this sector will also be further digitalised. The main question is, how do we develop a digital agriculture and food production system that includes a transparent, level playing field for the various actors?
