Organised by NARO and Wageningen University & Research
Date

Thu 13 June 2019 09:30 to 19:00

We are now in a new era, one in which innovation driven by enabling technologies such as IoT, AI, and robotics are bringing significant changes to the economy and society. In anticipation of global trends, the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan, - adopted by the Japanese Cabinet in January 2016 - presents ‘Society 5.0’ or ‘Super Smart Society’ as a core concept. Topics like smart agriculture and smart food chain are relevant to the realization of Society 5.0. Besides, they also contribute to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015. In order to realize Society 5.0, it is mandatory to co-operate further between private and government bodies including research institutes and higher educations.

The National Agriculture and Food Research organization (NARO), Japan and Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the Netherlands have a strong partnership in the field of agricultural technology and food technology. Therefore they jointly organize a one-day conference “Smart Agriculture and Food chain for Society 5.0” on Thursday 13 June 2019 at Wageningen Campus.

Join us in Wageningen featuring key note speaker Dr. Kazuo KYUMA, NARO president and many other leading professionals. Please see below to get a glimpse of the (draft) programme. Save the date! Registration is open!
