About Dr. Markha Valenta
Dr. Markha Valenta is Assistant Professor in the Institute for Historical, Literary and Cultural Studies at Radboud University. She works to develop an understanding of how global politics shapes democratic societies with regard to questions of religion, race, citizenship, and belonging. Her interest in religious nationalism centers on the ways in which religion and democracy disrupt and stimulate each other at the same time. Her method of research has involved extensive case studies which are problem-driven, comparative and interdisciplinary (drawing on anthropology, political philosophy, postcolonial history, religion-, gender- and queer studies).
