About the story
The year is 1972. Sicco Mansholt is about to retire and his work seems to be done. But when he looks at the devastating impacts of his expansionist agricultural policy on the environment and nature, he is alarmed. His thinking radically changes when he reads the Club of Rome’s theory warning about that unbridled economic growth coupled with a growing world population would lead to a catastrophe in the twenty-first century. Encouraged by the 24 year old intern Petra Kelly he once again climbs the barricades and becomes a fervent prophet of zero growth.
A theatre production touching upon one of the most pressing issues of our time regarding nature in tension with growth, interwoven with a personal story about people in crisis.
