Beyond traditional resource management

A seminar on the occasion of the retirement of Paul van Zwieten

On 8 April 2022 the Aquaculture and Fisheries Group of Wageningen University organises a seminar on fisheries management that explores strategies going beyond traditional stock management.

Prof. Jeppe Kolding of the University of Bergen will discuss the ins and outs of the concept of balanced harvesting. Prof. Jan Geert Hiddink of Bangor University will address the ecosystem effects of bottom trawling. Prof. Jaap van der Meer will explore the possibilities and limitations of marine food production. Finally, Prof. Simon Bush will discuss governance arrangements for global sustainable seafood.

The seminar will include a (vegetarian) lunch and will be followed by an informal get-together with drinks.
