The protein transition
Vegetarian, vegan, flexitarian - People often talk about a 'plant-based' diet for a sustainable future. Because plants have a special property: they can make their own proteins with just sun, water and some nutrients. This makes them super-efficient which and puts them at the base of the food chain. But… Not all plants. There are also plants that eat 'meat' themselves, for example by catching insects. What would happen if they used more of these additional sources of nutrition? Will they get more growth power, special properties?
Little Shop of Horrors
Sjoukje Heimovaara, chairman of the board of Wageningen University & Research, Tells her story, through 'Little Shop of Horrors', about what can happen if we don't properly study the origin and characteristics of new plants before we use them. A story about a special plant that gives a lot but also asks a lot. There's enough to experience and learn in this film, with a completely new view on the protein transition. Full of suspense, drama and song. Plants never fail to amaze!
The introduction will be in English. The movie is English with Dutch subtitles.
