Concert Jazz in Wageningen: Teus Nobel Quintet
This month trumpeter Teus Nobel (1982) is getting out for the first time with his new band. A new album is expected to come out this summer and in Wageningen you can hear which new things this versatile trumpeter is working on.
Since 2004 Teus is an often asked trumpet player in the Dutch jazz and pop scene. He has been working with Caro Emerald, Kyteman Orchestra, Frank McComb (US) and Frazey Ford (CAN). He is also the solo trumpeter of the Royal Air Force Orchestra since 2010.
Frontman
With his fusion-oriented debut album Flow (2012) Teus Nobel Teus Nobel introduced himself as a jazz soloist and front man. In 2014 a more acoustic album followed, called Legacy. Teus Nobel got many rave reviews and overwhelming media attention and he was named Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Talent and received the Laren Jazz Award 2015. Now he gets a "more eclectic sound" with many soundscapes, many electronics and above all a lot of groove! And the press is wildly enthusiastic. Jazzism for example wrote: 'The future of jazz is risen.’
Line-up
In November you could have met Teus Nobel during the Night Of The Jazz, when he together with pianist Alexander van Popta accompanied Will Boesten reciting his jazz novel "Grond". A book that we can recommend warmheartedly, and that is in stock at Boekhandel Kniphorst. But this time the brand new quintet with:
Teus Nobel - trumpet / flugelhorn
Alexander van Popta - keyboards
Merlijn Verboom - guitar
Jeroen Vierdag - bass
Tuur Moens - drums
