Earth Observation data for assessing global urbanization-sustainability nexuses

Summary

Urbanization is accelerating across the world, resulting in more urban residents, as well as more urban land use. Multi-characteristics of urbanization and their environmental impacts are essential for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in global cities. This research uses data from Earth Observation and social sources to better understand how urbanization and sustainability are connected at local-to-global scales. Our findings contribute to building a bridge between science and policy to create sustainable and livable cities by providing specific strategies for each context instead of a 'one-size-fits-all' approach.
