Farm to Fork Conference – Building sustainable food systems together

The second Farm to Fork Conference – Building sustainable food systems together, will take place on 14 and 15 October 2021 and will be a virtual event. The conference, held close to World Food Day, is the annual gathering of European stakeholders interested in helping to shape the EU’s path towards sustainable food systems.

Stakeholders across the food system, public authorities, international and civil society organisations, research and innovation actors, as well as other citizens and the interested public are invited to join the debate on the progress made on the implementation of the Farm to Fork Strategy for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system. The event will also provide a forum for discussion on the challenges and opportunities linked to the global transition to sustainable food systems, as well as on further thematic areas of intervention and on-going research and innovation efforts.

Session research and innovation

Prof. Louise O. Fresco, President of Wageningen University & Research Executive Board, is one of the speakers in session #5: Research and Innovation on 15 October, 10:40 – 11:55. This session will:

  1. Showcase the projects selected under the Horizon 2020 Green Deal call topic “Testing and demonstrating systemic innovations in support of the Farm-to-Fork Strategy”
  2. Inform what is already planned in the first years of Horizon Europe focusing on the funding opportunities in the Work Programme 2021-2022
  3. Discuss what to do next, focusing on R&I priorities that are likely to deliver impact as fast as possible before 2030, in particular what is still missing, what should be further intensified, of what more is needed and of what less, and how can we stimulate the uptake on the ground.
