How to become a leading researcher and an inspiring teacher?

How do you become a truly leading researcher and an inspiring teacher? Is that a desirable career path? What do others expect from you as an assistant or associate professor, and what do you expect from yourself? Is academia changing, and if so: which opportunities and challenges does that bring us? Which motivation, or even vision, drives you, and how do you invite others to become part of that? Is WUR a university like any other, or are there typical aspects in play that are worth taking into account? Which questions don’t we dare to ask each other (yet)?
