Suffering = Pain x Resistance

Being in constant pain or fatigue can be extremely frustrating. It can make you feel powerless, angry, frightened or sad, and your deepest desire is to live a life without pain. You may think, 'If only I could overcome this pain, then I could live the life I want'.

Often long-term pain (or fatigue) symptoms have no clear solution. Physically, the pain may no longer have an obvious cause, but that doesn't make it hurt less. What won't help you get on is fighting the pain all the time. In fact, it often backfires because your constant struggle makes it harder and harder to focus on the things that really matter to you.

In this training course, you will discover how to generate energy by letting go of the struggle and accepting the presence of pain or fatigue in your life. You will also learn how to manage this new-found energy and channel it into the aspects of your life that are of value to you.

For Whom?

This program is designed for students experiencing pain or fatigue symptoms that impede their daily functioning. These symptoms may include conditions such as CANS/RSI, Long-COVID issues, tension headaches, persistent symptoms following a concussion, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue/overexertion, or fibromyalgia.

Over six sessions, we will explore various topics, including:

  • What factors influence, maintain or exacerbate your symptoms, such as personality traits and your social environment?
  • Distinguish between 'clean' and 'dirty' pain, and understand how your thoughts, underlying beliefs, emotions, and behavior influence your pain and fatigue symptoms.
  • Finding balance in your life - discovering what energises you and what drains you, both physically and mentally, and how to create a balance that works for you.
  • Sensitisation – understanding how repeated pain stimuli create 'elephant tracks' between nerve cells, leading to increased sensitivity to pain. We will explore techniques to recalibrate this hypersensitive system.
  • Providing space for addressing your specific themes.
