Ludi Soli – A serious game to understand soil functioning

During this activity, groups of people will play a game about soil biota and soil functioning: Ludi Soli. Ludi Soli is a serious game to understand the different cause to effect relationships in the soil system and how collective choices can influence them. It aims to illustrate the complex life, chemistry and physics of soil.

Organised by Wageningen Institute for Environment and Climate Research (WIMEK)

Sat 2 October 2021 11:00 to 16:00

Venue Gaia 1 and 2
It is a great educational tool for citizens of all ages. Ludi Soli is a workshop normally lasting 2 hours, but for this week end the sessions will be shortened to approximately 45 minutes. In each session, one groups of 5/6 people will be able to join and play the game. The players are guided by a facilitator who gradually reveals the different functions of the soil through a story. First, players get to understand soil functioning. Then human influence on soils mainly through agriculture is introduced. The workshop ends with a guided discussion on societal issues related to soils and guideline for sustainable soil management.
