Make an Ecoprint Tote Bag
Have you ever heard about "Tatakizome" or flower pounding? Well, this is your chance to try it out. We will use plants & flowers from the campus meadows to create your own unique ecoprint tote bag!
What and who?
Tataki zomé is an ancient Japanese technique of printing leaves and flowers onto fabric. It is a form of eco printing, where you use the colours of the plant itself. For this we use a soft hammer which explains the english name "flower pounding".
We start the workshop with a tour on campus to collect flowers and leaves. Afterwards we arrange them on the (free) cotton grocery bag provided by team Summer Activities and we gently hammer the plants so their juices and colours are transferred into the fabric. How cool is that?!
