Sustainable Marine Production Systems

Many people have incredible high expectations on the contribution of the marine environment to the challenges of our time. Think of the production of food and energy, storing carbon, recreation, maintaining marine biodiversity and continuously increasing transport oversea. But also safety and health implications regarding new and emerging raw materials that are finding their application in food products.

Over the last years these challenges were addressed in several KB programs. For instance we have investigated circular marine production, developed AI tools for monitoring fish population and we looked at the potential in Low and Middle Income Countries to contribute to improving Food Systems. A strong need exists to come with an overall vision on sustainable marine production systems, addressing the wide diversity of demands. Join this creative brainstorm, explore to which extend your ideas complement the concepts of your colleagues and identify creative solutions for the multiple demands.
