Do you have trouble communicating what you are studying to your family? Would you like to learn how to interact with a broader audience about your research? We sure do!

Science communication is all around is, and easier than you think! Do you have trouble communicating what you are studying to your family? Would you like to learn how to interact with a broader audience about your research? We sure do! After this evening we should have the tools and inspiration to tell our story, our way.

So save the date: Wednesday evening 14th of December 19.00 at c0222 Forum.

We bring this often overlooked, but important subject to light with 4 amazing speakers using different forms of science communication.

  • Anne Land-Zandstra is head of the Master Science Communication in Leiden and will interactively teach us all the ins and outs about communicating exact sciences to a broad public.

And there will be 3 inspirational speakers that will tell about how they communicate and how they got where they are:

  • Melchert Meijer zu Schlochtern started out as a forest- and nature student and is now a professional filmmaker and hit the cinema with well received nature documentaries WAD (2018) and Grutto!(2022).
  • Jente Ottenburghs is an evolutionary ecologist at WUR and has explored the use humor in science.
  • Nienke Beets works on the Stoepplantjes (Pavement plant) citizen science project, to convince more people to get to know wild plants on the street.

So come join us to listen to these insiders in science communication on the 14th of December, there will be drinks and snacks. Walk-in at 18:30 starting at 19:00. And walk-out inspired and motivated.
