World Food Day 2020

Access to enough, healthy, safe and nutritious food for all, and zero hunger. That is the ambition! Many people work ont his every day. October 16, is world food day, a global day to ask more attention for this topic.

Friday October 16 marks World Food Day. You can now subscribe to the Dutch online event (10h30-15h), hosted by the Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP), live from the Desmet Studios in Amsterdam.

Wageningen University & Research is involved in the World Food Day on various levels, through:

•A keynote speech by Jack van der Vorst, director Social Sciences Group of WUR
•A session by Joost Guijt, Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, on ‘Assessing food systems in times of COVID-19’

Parallel to World Food Day, WUR will launch the essay bundle ’10 Miljard Monden’ (Dutch ed.), edited by Jeroen Candel and Ingrid de Zwarte (WUR) on October 16.

WUR is also involved in the Youth World Food Day Event, where youth can reflect on their vision on the future food system. Louise Fresco will be part of the World Food Prize Event (16h30-18h00) discussion ‘the Road to the 2021 Food Summit’.

The World Food Day event will end with an open-floor kick-off to a Food Systems Dialogue (14h-15h) leading to the 2021 World Food Summit. The floor is open to you to discuss topics that you think are of importance to the World Food Summit. So make sure to subscribe in time!
