16 May - Must Leave

Wageningen Campus has gained a unique work of art. A giant water beetle, Dytiscus marginalis, now flies from the pond between Orion and Forum. The sculpture, named “Must Leave”, is a gift from Marten Scheffer and was developed in collaboration with the Danish sculptor Vagn Iversen. It symbolises the source of diversity of the campus community.

On 16 May, this eye-catching installation was unveiled on campus with music and the largest potluck in the history of Wageningen. About 700 people made their way to the event. The unveiling was followed by the annual Van Uven festival by WSKOV (Wageningen Choir and Orchestra Association) & de Ontzetting.
