Adaptation pathways

In Bangladesh, sea level rise in combination with reduced dry season flows and river engineering are projected to add to salt water intrusion. This makes it increasingly difficult for farmers to grow rice, the main crop.

Wageningen University & Research develops adaptation pathways to map how different actors would prefer to adapt to changes in land-use, both at national and local level. The pathways help to discuss short, medium and long-term adaptation with actors and can reveal different interests and possible social shifts that need to be considered.

Wageningen works with private and public partners in Bangladesh on a number of research and capacity development projects around climate change, water and food security.
