Blog: Cameras in the nets at the herring survey

Researchers of IMARES leading the Dutch part of this year's North Sea herring acoustic survey and report from research vessel the Tridens. During the past few hauls they were trialling a GoPro camera in the net. The aim of this was to get a better picture of "what is entering the net at what depth and time". Follow the researchers and read the blog.

The researchers will be on board the Dutch Fisheries Research Vessel Tridens to survey the area on a systematic, predefined cruise track. The combined internationally coordinated effort will deliver an estimate of the herring stock size in the North Sea.
