Food security at or under 2 ºC warming

Can there be food security under a climate stabilized at or under 2ºC warming? In the FOODSECURE project, researchers from Wageningen University & Research and colleague-institutes identified a plausible pathway to achieve food security and nature conservation and ‘negative’ greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture by 2050.

Under moderate growth of average consumption and accelerated innovation malnutrition and inequality could be tackled, while avoiding the environmental degradation tipping point. One major tool to sustain planet earth and public health is a balanced diet with modest portions of meat, proteins from plants and seas and low waste.
