MiXBLUP software for continuous improvement

In every generation of animals breeding organisations have to select the best individuals to become the parents of the next generation. However, the software the companies use to identify these individuals is static, while scientific developments are continuous. It is therefore a major challenge to apply new insights in practice.

Partners in MiXBLUP

Wageningen University & Research, Animal Breeding & Genomics is cooperating with LUKE National Resources Institute in Finland, Topigs Norsvin and Hendrix Genetics to maintain and develop the MiXBLUP software.

Evaluating breeding populations

This system enables the utilisation of new developments shortly after they become available.
MiXBLUP is used for the routine evaluation of breeding populations of dairy cattle, beef cattle, pigs, layers, dairy goats, sheep and dogs in many countries.
