Three young WUR scientists proceed to national FameLab final

Sophie van der Vlugt, Malou van der Sluis and Rose Pinto will proceed to the Dutch final of the FameLab contest for young scientists on June 1st. They are the winners of the Wageningen heat, for which 13 participants sent in a video.

Last Friday, in an online ceremony, the jury announced their shortlist of 5 participants. Next, everyone of those 5 participants was asked some questions by the jury in order to test their presentation and improvisation skills. The jury then announced Sophie and Malou as jury winners.

This was the first year with an audience award, which was won by Rose with 26,7% of the votes.

About FameLab

FameLab is an international public speaking competition for young scientists (younger than 40 years). Participants send in a short pitch (max 3 minutes) about their research. The best pitch judged by content, clarity & charisma wins!

The competition starts with a Wageningen University & Research heat. The 3 winners - 2 awarded by jury, 1 awarded by audience - will proceed to the Dutch national heat, in which contestants of other universities will also participate. The winner of this national heat will take part in the international FameLab final this fall.
