Algae: green gold

Four different algae cultivation systems are housed on the edge of Wageningen Campus. From 2011, the reactors of AlgaePARC (Algae Production And Research Centre) colour green here. Partly because of this microalgae research facility, Wageningen University & Research is a world leader in microalgae production and biorefinery. Microalgae are a promising source of protein and oily substances, suitable for use in food, animal feed, fuel and chemicals such as paints and plastics.
