Alliance against Zika
The recent outbreak of the mosquito transmitted Zika virus raised great international concern. There are still many questions about the origins and potential impact on human health of this new and emerging disease. Wageningen entomologists investigate the risks of virus transmission by different mosquito species. The research is part of a EU supported international programme that investigates medical, fundamental, environmental and social aspects of Zika infection. By addressing these questions in their coherence, new approaches for halting the spread of this disease can be developed.
