Interaction between sustainable alternatives: competition?
Sustainable alternatives are often regarded as the one and only solution by the actors advocating them. However, in case of a diversity of alternatives (think of meat alternatives) they may be competing for resources, such as investments, subsidies, natural resources, niche markets, etc. This may well reduce their chances to diffuse and overcome institutional barriers.
You will do a literature review to develop a theory to investigate the interaction between sustainable alternatives. You will specifically investigate how interactions between researchers developing such alternatives could be studied empirically. Crucial literature for this thesis is in the domain of sustainability transitions.
