Internship Sustainability – Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate

Within Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate (CCC), the Sustainability department is responsible for the delivery of five sustainability goals that drive our company strategy. We execute a portfolio of programming via our direct cocoa supply through the Cargill Cocoa Promise framework and deliver this through an evidence based and technology driven approach. We work with other departments from sourcing, product line management, marketing & sales to deliver our customers sustainable products and services via Promise Solutions.

In this context, we are looking for an intern with a passion for Sustainability to support us in daily sustainability management activities aiming to improve team effectiveness. If the intern has a specific interest/project area it can also be discussed as part of the internship.

Start date: as soon as possible
Duration: 6 months – 1 year
Location: Remote working expected (European time zone)

Main tasks:

Stakeholder reporting

  • Provides support during year to Sustainability Reporting Specialist, Partnerships Officer and Program Advisors on reporting requests and requirements by compiling impact reports (quantitative and qualitative) and/or updating databases where this information is saved.
  • Assist with maintaining the content collection data base (storing the files in folders, labelling stories & pictures, keeping track of what has been used and/or still available)
  • Provide support to provide content to CocoaWise (stakeholder portal)
  • Manages publication of quarterly Sustainability Update (internal newsletter)

Knowledge management

  • Conducts research and analysis on the sustainability landscape, and provides summary briefing on reports as requested by team translating into observations/findings that can be used as input to content and strategy discussion
  • Follows developments of global carbon markets and works closely with Forest Advisor and Origin Teams to provide preliminary information for a carbon positive business case project portfolio
  • Leads continuous improvement team knowledge management (e.g. through efficient use of existent tools, proposing new innovative solutions)
  • Updates and maintains team databases used for customer requests, reporting, grant proposals and questionnaires
  • Updates and maintains standard presentations on different sustainability topics for internal and external audiences

Project coordination

  • Leads by providing project coordination support to team member to delivery annual operating plan during the year. Subject matter may include climate change, forest protection, child protection, community wellbeing, living income, sustainability standards

Team governance

  • Coordinates monthly global team meetings including presentation preparation and meeting notes and follow-up
  • Leads design, development and implementation of annual (virtual) global team meeting across several time zones and content areas
  • Coordinate other meetings/workshops as required including material preparation, meeting notes and action follow-up

You will be working in close collaboration with Cargill and CCC’s various functions, mainly Product Line Management, Marketing & Sales, Business & Supply Chain, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability, Communications and Sales teams.

What we are looking for:

  • You have analytical skills and the passion for turning data and insights into relevant conclusions and recommendations and present them in a compelling, understandable way
  • You have good organization and coordination skills. You like to work with structure.
  • You have a strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You can work independently and you take initiative. Proactive mindset is key.
  • You are result-oriented and able to manage a project in a broad an multicultural team
  • You have an interest in Sustainability and/ or the food industry. Affinity with Sustainability through studies or other experiences is a plus.
  • You are fluent in English and French is nice to have
  • You are proficient in using Microsoft Office products, mainly Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of design programs is a plus.
  • You are a Bachelor or (preferably) Master student in international development, human rights, environmental science, environmental engineering, agronomy or similar field
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Carbon/GHG Accounting is a plus
