Plant signals and messages
Science is not a joke. So this information is real!
Plants are immobile, but certainly not defenseless if it comes to face environmental challenges. During stress periods, for instance caused by drought, trees take internal measures like closing the pores in their leaves to limit water loss. When there is a threat from outside, such as insect damage, they produce ‘cry for help’ odours. Soon followed by an army of allies, attacking the plant’s enemy.
Plants have more senses than we think. With sensors, such as dendrometers and sapflow meters we can detect processes hidden in the bark and the wood of the stem.
