Privacy Statement WUR Microbiome Research Panel
The research group of associate professor Clara Belzer at the Laboratory of Microbiology at Wageningen University (part of Wageningen University & Research, also mentioned “WUR”) is specialized in scientific research around microbiology in human health and disease. The microbiome research panel is a database where you can register if you would like to receive invitations to volunteer in our upcoming research projects.
Please note that the registration and joining research projects is completely voluntarily.

The WUR Microbiome Research Panel uses a website, which is hosted as part of the WUR website. Therefore the general Privacy & Cookie statement of WUR applies to the use of this website.
Description of the personal data (specification + use)
If you register to the WUR Microbiome Research Panel, we will save your name, e-mail address, year of birth, country of residence and sex, so that we can send you e-mails with invitations to participate in research projects that may be relevant to you.
Information about the personal data that will be collected when you participate in one of the microbiology research projects will be included in the information/consent letter for the specific project.
Do we share personal data?
As a general principle, WUR does not disclose your personal data to third parties without your consent.
An important exception is the sharing of personal data when it is required under applicable law or in course of any legal proceedings.
How long we retain your data
The personal data provided through your registration for the WUR Microbiome Research Panel will not be kept longer than necessary for the purpose for which they are collected.
This means that WUR will destroy your personal data collected through the database as soon as these data are no longer necessary, i.e. in case you revoke the given consent or as soon as the database will no longer be used.
How do we protect your personal data?
Obviously, the processing of personal data includes appropriate security measures. The starting point for WUR to secure data is NEN-EN-ISO/IEC 27002:2017. This certification is an international standard for data security. Additionally, WUR also monitors whether there are unlawful traffic or activities on the website.

Your rights / contact details
If you would like to your personal data to be removed from the database, you can send a message to microbiomeresearchpanel@wur.nl. You do not need to state the reason for removal.
