Sustainable packaging
The development of sustainable packaging demands insight into the entire packaging chain as well as an understanding of consumer behaviour. In addition to the materials used, the sustainability of packaging is also determined by the original raw material, the benefits of the packaged product and end-of-life-options such as recycling or composting. Moreover, the packaging has to be designed in such a way that consumers like to purchase it and will use it correctly.
Co-creating the sustainable packaging of the future
Wageningen Food & Biobased Research has over 30 years of experience in all these aspects of packaging. With our broad expertise and facilities in (fresh) foods and shelf life, biobased materials, consumer behaviour and end-of-life-options, we can advise clients on which packaging option is actually most sustainable.
