Wageningen University & Research policy on Open Access
Wageningen University & Research stimulates authors to publish according to the Open Access principle. Up to now, WUR has been carrying out the Green Road to Open Access. In the period of 2010-2015, WUR published nearly 16.000 refereed journal articles. 24% of these publications are Open Access.
A large part of the articles with restricted online access are freely available via WURs institutional repository, Staff Publications, either as an author-version, as part of PhD theses, or as a final version after the embargo period of the publisher.
The Dutch government, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and WUR are now explicitly opting for the Golden road. This was the position outlined by State Secretary Sander Dekker in a letter to the Dutch House of Representatives in November 2013. He aims to have 60 % of Dutch academic publications available through Open Access by 2019 and 100 % by 2024.
Wageningen University & Research - Library is responsible for the implementation of Open Access according to the WUR Strategic Plan 2015-2018.
