YUFA and Student Career Services - To do a PhD: pleasure or burden?! - 10 November 2021
Would you like to know more about doing a PhD? Join this on-campus event, which is organized in collaboration with Student Career Services on November 10th!
To do or not to do a PhD is a critical question for lots of Master and Bachelor students. For this reason, YUFA (previously known as Young KLV) and Student Career Services organize the reoccurring event: To do a PhD, pleasure or burden?
Prof. dr. ir. Arthur Mol, Rector Magnificus/vice-president Executive Board of WUR, will give a presentation about various aspects of doing a PhD. Furthermore, two current/recent PhD students will talk about their personal experiences. After the presentations, you will have a chance to have your questions answered by the speakers.
Examples of topics that will be discussed are:
- What are the basic requirements for a PhD?
- Where and how can you find the information about PhD positions?
- What are the selection procedures for the potential PhD candidates?
- What are the positive and negative aspects of doing a PhD?
- What will be the next step after doing a PhD?
- What is the common career path of a PhD student?
