It's a Go for a Logo

It might have begun as whims or a fancy. The idea for a logo was mooted at a strategy workshop one year ago. Maybe we want to be recognised by others at one glance; or put our group’s stamp on our workshops and events. We want our identity to be visible. We will be more recognisable, more memorable. Above all, we would have a feeling of belonging and pride if we have an FNP logo.

Putting pen to paper, some 20 staff and students of FNP gathered in the events area in Gaia for a logo design activity in early May. More than 50 designs were produced. Some feature sets of three similar objects to signify FNP’s three research themes; some toy with the letters F, N and P; some have human characteristics to show governance and societal aspects of our work. Some are drawings with lofty aspirations; others, very meaningful doodles.

Whatever the final logo will turn out to be, we know that teamwork is involved in its creation. It wouldn’t be something bought off the shelves, nor something that sprang from one commercial designer’s creativity. Everyone has a hand in it, and it can be truly ours.

Wait and see.
