Public transport in the Netherlands

Travelling by train is the quickest way to travel between cities in the Netherlands. Make sure you plan your journey beforehand!

General advice for using public transportation

From Schiphol Airport to Ede-Wageningen train station

If you are arriving in Schiphol Airport, the train station is located inside the airport building just by the main exits. Trains depart from Schiphol Airport to Ede-Wageningen every 30 minutes. Take the Intercity train in the direction of Nijmegen. At every station, there are screens that list all the departing trains. Your final train stop is Ede-Wageningen. Please note that Wageningen itself does not have a railway station. Your final stop is in Ede, which is the town next to Wageningen.

(Alternatively) It is possible to travel from Schiphol Airport to Ede-Wageningen via Utrecht. Trains to Utrecht depart every 30 minutes. Take an Intercity train in the direction of Venlo and get off the train in Utrecht. Once you are in Utrecht, switch to a train in the direction of Nijmegen. Your final stop is Ede-Wageningen.

Travel time from Schiphol Airport to Ede-Wageningen is approximately 65 minutes and costs € 18.00.

From Ede-Wageningen train station to Wageningen Campus

At Ede-Wageningen station you can either take the bus or a taxi. A taxi from Ede-Wageningen train station to Wageningen Campus costs approximately € 30.00 and takes 15 minutes.

The bus stop at Ede-Wageningen station is situated on the main bus square outside the train station. Take bus 303 or 103 to Wageningen and get out at the stop at “Campus/Atlas”. Both services also go to the city centre of Wageningen, which is the final destination of the bus. You can check in with your credit/debit card.

Travel time from Ede-Wageningen to Wageningen Campus is approximately 30 minutes and will cost around €3.00 (one way).

From Ede-Wageningen train station to Recreatiepark de Wielerbaan

At Ede-Wageningen station you can either take the bus or a taxi. A taxi costs approximately € 30.00 and takes 15 minutes. The bus stop at Ede-Wageningen station is situated on the main bus square outside the train station. Take bus 303 or 103 to Wageningen and get out at the stop at “Hoevestein”. Afterwards, you will have to walk 15 – 20 minutes, check the route on Google Maps.

The bus trip will cost around €3.00 and takes 30 minutes. You can check in with your credit/debit card.

From Ede-Wageningen train station to Boerderij Hoekelum

At Ede-Wageningen station you can either take the bus or a taxi. A taxi costs approximately € 30.00 and takes 15 minutes. The bus stop at Ede-Wageningen station is situated on the main bus square outside the train station. Take bus 86 to Bennekom/Wageningen and get out at the stop at “Hoekelumse Brinkweg, Bennekom”. Afterwards, you will have to walk 10 minutes, check the route on Google Maps.

The bus trip will cost around €3.00 and takes 30 minutes. You can check in with your credit/debit card.

From Ede-Wageningen train station to Natuurvriendenhuis de Bosbeek

The accommodation Natuurvriendenhuis de Bosbeek is difficult to reach by bus. You can take a normal taxi or take the haltetaxi (a “stop taxi,” an on-demand, shared taxi service in the Netherlands that operates between specific transit stops, often in rural areas) from Ede-Wageningen station to the “Panoramahoeve” stop. From there, walk 10 minutes via the Moftbos (dirt road) to De Bosbeek. Book the haltetaxi at least 2 hours in advance: 085 004 66 99 or haltetaxi.rrreis.nl.

During the Scientific Student Conference

On Friday and Saturday morning, a bus is arranged for students from Boerderij Hoekelum and Natuurvriendenhuis de Bosbeek to the Scientific Student Conference venue. For those attending the student party on Friday evening, return buses will be available to take everyone back to their accommodation.

On Saturday, a bus will also be provided to return to Boerderij Hoekelum after the conference closes.

For those who prefer alternate travel times, public buses and taxis are recommended. Students staying at Recreatiepark de Wielerbaan will receive a bike to use throughout the conference.
