Student Psychologist

Are you a student at WUR? The student psychologist can help you with personal problems that can lead to study delay, or with study-related health problems. You can come to us with family problems, insecurity, anxiety or gloominess, but also depression, addiction, tension or mourning.

Don't hesitate to reach out; after all, prevention is better than cure.

What can the Student Psychologist do for you?

The WUR student psychologist offers free and confidential short-term counselling (up to five meetings) for minor psychological problems.

Please note that we do not diagnose or provide treatment for serious or complex psychological/psychiatric problems. If you need specialised or long-term help, we can help you get a referral to mental healthcare through your GP.

We guide you in several ways:

Walk-In (± 15 minutes)
If you are unsure which support best suits your question, we advise you to schedule a walk-in consultation with a student psychologist.

Location Day(s) Time
Forum | Room 030 Mon, Wed, Thu 13:00 - 14:00h
SC De Bongerd Tue 15:00 - 16:00h
Online Tue, Fri 13:00 - 14:00h

Consultation with the psychologist (online or face-to-face, ± 60 min)
The first step is an intake interview. We will listen to you and assess how we can best help you. The student psychologist will then decide whether to schedule a follow-up appointment or advise you to sign up for group training at Student Training & Support). We may also refer you to other professionals.

All conversations are confidential!

Where can you go for help?

Student Guidance - FInd our Way Infographic

Wageningen University & Research offers various ways of support to students. But how do you know who to turn to if you have a problem?

Download the social roadmap: “Student Guidance: Find your Way”, or go to the webpage WUR Student Guidance.

Study adviser: when to contact?

In the event of study-related issues such as discipline, motivation, fear of failure, concentration, or study planning, we recommend that you first contact your study adviser. They will help you analyse the problems you encounter and can help you to improve your study behaviour to study more efficiently.

Student dean: How can they help?

The student dean will help you in case of study delay due to force majeure (for example, in the event of illness), advise you about finances and regulations, and help with obstacles you may encounter if you have a functional disability.

What does Student Training & Support offer?

Student Training & Support organises various inspiring – free – workshops and training courses. You can also make an appointment for a heart-to-heart conversation with a professional student life coach or with a peer coach.
