Alumnus testimonial

Marloes van de Weerdhof - HR/Financial controller

I have always felt very comfortable at WUR, which has made studying very pleasant.

I started at WUR with the bachelor Bedrijfs- en consumentenwetenschappen and ended with the master Management, Economics and Consumer studies.

I had chosen Wageningen in 2015 because I was sold as soon as I arrived on campus. The good feeling in combination with the beautiful buildings made sure that I was no longer interested in other universities at all.

Since you graduated, what kind of jobs did you have?

I graduated in January 2022 and I was already hired at my current job in December 2021. I currently work as an HR/Financial controller at BAS Holding in Veghel. This means that I do part of the payroll administration, but I also perform analyses on the company. In addition, I will also set up workflows for the software, so that other people can work more efficiently.

The job is related to my studies in Wageningen in the sense that in addition to standardized work. I am also involved in setting up workflows to make work processes easier for HR employees. Besides that, BAS mainly sells second-hand trucks and parts, which has to do with sustainability.

What are your future goals?

My goal for the future is to make business processes more sustainable and efficient through my influence and new ideas. So directing companies to be more efficient and therefore more sustainable.

How was studying/living in Wageningen for you?

I had a fantastic time during my time in
Wageningen. The first 5 years I lived in an active women's house on the market.
During the first three years I enjoyed the student life. When I started my master's, I started looking for more peace and quiet and discovered how much I enjoyed studying and the courses at WUR.

I experience the quality of education as very good, excellent even. The personal attention of the lecturers and study advisors at WUR is very unique. I have always felt very comfortable at WUR, which has made studying very pleasant.

If you want to play a part in the transition towards a more sustainable world, what does your part look like?

I would like to increase the link between economy and sustainability. Sustainability does not only mean investing money in sustainability projects, but perhaps also spending less money on other things.
