Approval of electives & deviations in study programme
You can start using the Osiris PlanApp to plan your courses from your first year on. However, you will only submit your plan when you want to have your electives approved. All students must submit their Bachelor’s or Master’s electives for approval to the Examining Board no later than six months before graduating. You can submit your electives via the PlanApp.
Go to Osiris and click on PlanApp. Plan your courses and submit your electives for approval.
Approval of electives and deviations from the programme set out in the course catalogue
- The study adviser will conduct an initial assessment and issue a recommendation to the Examining Board, which will then decide whether or not to approve the electives.
- In addition to assessing electives, the Examining Board can also decide to approve individual deviations from the programme set out in the course catalogue. Students can request such approval by sending an email to the study advisor.
- The Examining Board will take its decision on the grounds of a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the electives and the individual deviations from the programme. The assessment of electives is limited to monitoring the level of the individual courses in relation to their mutual coherence.
- A decision by the Examining Board to deny approval will be supported by reasons, and will only be taken after the student in question has been given the opportunity to explain their standpoint.
- The Examining Board will make its decision within six weeks of receipt of the request or, if the response term ends during University holidays, within fourteen days after the end of the holidays. The Examining Board may postpone its decision for a maximum of fourteen days. The student must be notified in writing of such postponement before the end of the term referred to in the first sentence of this article.
- The student will be notified of the decision within eight weeks. Approval will be deemed to have been granted in the event that the Examining Board fails to take its decision or notify the student of its decision within the relevant term.
- Students must request permission in good time to make changes to electives that have already been submitted for approval. Electives must also be re-submitted for approval if the student in question chooses a different specialisation, even if the electives themselves do not change. ‘In good time’ means at least six weeks before the intended graduation date.
Students are urgently advised to request approval of their study programme before taking tests in the electives. Students are fully responsible in the event that electives for which they have already passed the test are not approved.
