About Wageningen Students’ Lives During World War II

Your studies are upended when suddenly war breaks out. What do you do? As relevant a question today as it was just over 75 years ago. Join us in the monumental setting of Hotel de Wereld to explore the grey devilish dilemmas of war through the experiences of Wageningen Students at home and far from it.What was it like to be a local or foreign student back then?Fresh first degree testimony input about life in forced labour in camps deep behind enemy lines will complement the stories and testimonies of students who manoeuvered through the occupation of the Netherlands. Bob Kernkamp (Wageningen City Archives), André & Dylan Lardinois, and Ben Puylaert reconstruct the contexts of student life (based on Ceres and Unitas archives)and their (grand)fathers’ experiences sharing how the war impacted students as well as Wageningen and its inhabitants.
