Considering cancellation of Web of Science. We need your input!
The budget cuts mean the Library has to make decisions about which resources we can continue to offer. We’re currently exploring the option of cancelling our subscription to Web of Science, including Journal Citation Reports. To gather everyone's feedback, we’re organising a poll and a discussion meeting.
Due to its rising subscription costs and considerable overlap with other databases in the Library’s collection, and in light of the current budget constraints, we’re reviewing the relevance and necessity of Web of Science.
Share your input
Collection decisions like this require a thorough evaluation. That’s why we’d like to hear from you! Do you use Web of Science in your research or teaching? How would cancelling it impact your work? Please take a moment to fill out our short poll, available until 8 May 2025. Note that a decision to cancel Web of Science does not affect access to the full text of the journals it indexes. Full-text availability remains unchanged and is provided through other subscriptions.
Discussion meeting 27 May
Besides the poll, we're organising a meeting where you can share your thoughts on the potential cancellation of Web of Science and possible alternative databases. This will help us understand your needs and what support may be required if we move forward.
Date: 27 May 2025
Time: 13.00 – 14.00 hrs
Location: Forum Library, room 259 or online
If you'd like to join the meeting, please register by sending an email to office.library@wur.nl. You can also attend online if you prefer.
