The UKB consortium has agreements with several major academic publishers allowing WUR corresponding authors to publish Open Access at no or reduced costs. For 2023, several read & publish deals have been renewed. In 2023, you can also publish Open Access without costs in the Subscribe to Open (S2O) journals from Annual Reviews.

Annual Reviews | Subscribe to Open 2023-2025

For the year 2023, Annual Reviews has switched its 51 journals to the Subscribe to Open (S2O) business model. This means that Annual Reviews now publishes all articles Open Access and that WUR corresponding authors can publish Open Access in Annual Review journals without costs.

Under the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model the publisher uses subscription payments to convert gated access journals to full open access (OA). For more information, see the Open Access website. S2O provides Diamond OA. Diamond OA articles are immediately available with no access barrier and no author fee. Use the WUR Journal Browser for an overview of the S2O journals and conditions for participation. Read access to the Journal archives is also part of the current deal.

Springer Nature and de Gruyter read & publish deals

The suspended read and publish deal with Springer Nature has been extended for another year. For 2023, new funding is available to publish Open Access without paying the Article Processing Charge (APC). You can use the WUR Journal Browser to check if a journal is part of the Read & Publish deal.

There's also a new read and publish agreement with de Gruyter for 2023-2025. You can publish Open Access without costs in more than 300 hybrid and fully open access journals from Walter de Gruyter. Use the Open Access Journal Browser for an overview of journal titles and conditions for participation.
