As of January 1st, 2022, Lies Boelrijk will take office as the new director of the University Fund Wageningen (UFW). She will replace Fusien Verloop, who has held this position on an interim basis since January 2020.

The past years, Lies has worked at the Kröller-Müller Museum as head of marketing & development and MT member. She was responsible, among other things, for fundraising and founded the Helene Kröller-Müller Fund, the museum's support foundation, in 2013. She would like to use her experience for UFW and Wageningen University & Research (WUR). ‘Like the Kröller-Müller Museum, WUR is a world-renowned and leading institution, a strong brand with a fantastic reputation. I consider it an honor and an emphatic task to contribute in the role of director of the University Fund Wageningen, together with the board of the fund and the UFW team, to special research projects and to support talent among students, so that we can feed the world in a healthy and sustainable way and remain the best university in The Netherlands.'

Lies Boelrijk will lead the UFW team and collaborate with the UFW board and with Sebastiaan Berendse, corporate director of Value Creation, within which the University Fund Wageningen team has been working since the end of 2021. Jan Karel Mak, chairman of the University Fund, says that the board is very satisfied with the appointment of Lies Boelrijk. “We are very pleased with the arrival of Lies Boelrijk and warmly welcome her as director of the University Fund Wageningen. With her impressive track record and inspiring personality, she will lead the fund into a new phase; we look forward to working with her on the growth and prosperity of the university.”
