From 3 to 7 October, Wageningen University & Research is organizing the second edition of the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) week. During this week, staff and students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities on diversity and inclusion. The event is part of WUR's ambition to be an inclusive university and employer.

With the D&I week, WUR draws attention to the importance of a diverse, inclusive work and study environment. Everyone should feel at home and be able to thrive on campus. We believe that diversity and inclusion make an important contribution to the quality of our education and research. Our more than 13,000 students and more than 6,500 employees form an inspiring, creative and multicultural population.

D&I starts with I

Last year, the D&I week was organized for the first time, mostly online. This year, employees and students can participate in lectures, workshops, inspiration sessions and other activities on campus as well as digitally. This year's theme is 'D&I starts with I'. The goal remains the same: to learn, think and have meaningful discussions about diversity and inclusivity.

Although most people mainly think of cultural and gender diversity when it comes to these topics, there is also a lot of room for social safety and neurodiversity during the D&I week. For example, participants can learn about giftedness and participate in the Autism Experience Circuit. Other sessions are about creating a safe work environment and combating racism and discrimination. During the interactive lecture Brown Eyes Blue Eyes, participants can experience exclusion themselves. Joris Luyendijk will also give a lecture on 6 October about De Zeven vinkjes, his much-discussed book about privilege. The week ends with a humorous theater show.
