Our next section seminar will be organised on the 4th of February, from 12.00 to 13.00. The Operations Research and Logistics group hosts this seminar on ‘A business perspective on the circular economy’.

As Renzo Akkerman of the ORL group says “there is a lot of discussion on the circular economy. For instance, our university plays an important role in discussions about circular agriculture, The Netherlands has ambitious goals to reach 100% circularity by 2050, and the transition to a more circular economy is an important part of the EU Green Deal. From the perspective of businesses, it is however not always clear what these ambitions and developments mean. This seminar aims to explore this issue by reflecting on the challenges that business face, and what this means for the scope of (business) research activities.”

Renzo Akkerman will open and provide a quick recap about the principles of the circular economy. He will also discuss challenges for businesses in a circular economy. Emiel Wubben from the Business Management & Organisation will continue by providing a perspective on the struggle of scoping circular economy research. A discussion will be organised after this in which all participants are invited to join. The seminar is planned by ORL in relation to the Dutch week of the Circular Economy, which happens the week after the seminar (February 7-12).
