Wageningen UR Library has a new department: the Information Desk Team,  which was formed with the development of the Forum Library. The team consists of 25 (senior) information services employees from the various libraries that have been combined in the new Forum library. Thuur Westermann and Bert Schuurs manage the Information Desk Team. Thuur explains, "We began the preparations for the team at an early stage, long before the opening of the Forum Library. The team's duties were outlined, employees were chosen and then team building was started. Don’t forget that the new library was quite a change for many employees who were used to working in a small library".

The duties of the Information Service Team:
• Lending and information
• Managing public spaces
• Supporting the Special Collections department
• Service desk (telephone and email)
• Interlibrary loans: processing internal requests from WUR employees and students as well as external requests
• Making publications ready for use
• Responsible for demos, tours and trainings.

The biggest change is the expanded opening hours. As of 10 September, the Library is now open 80 hours per week. The Forum Library is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 10 pm, on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. Many library patrons are taking advantage of these 'extra hours', even on Saturday and Sunday. Since its opening the Library has received many visitors. To accommodate for the new hours and the extra visitors, the Library has had to develop a work roster. And that is new for the employees. Needless to say, each day has to be planned and that happens for the whole year in 10-week periods.

The Information Desk Team is dynamic and enthusiastic. Both our physical and digital users always come first and are always professionally helped.
