Wageningen University & Research owns about 600 paintings, sculptures, and other works of art. The art works can be seen on campus and in the buildings. Some works are not on display and are stored in an art depot in the Forum. Departments can now borrow or exchange works of art in consultation with Special Collections.

Borrow or exchange a work of art

Would you like to have an art work on one of the walls in your building or in your room? There is a small collection of works that have not found a new location yet. You can consult Special Collections for borrowing one of these works. Exchanging a work of art is also an option. Feel free to contact Special Collections to find out if there is anything interesting for you.

Restoration and relocation

Several relocations, renovations and new constructions led to a backlog in managing the indoor and outdoor artworks. In 2021, about 150 works of art, such as drawings, watercolors, paintings, tapestries, and sculptures in various buildings, have been restored or reframed by specialized companies.

Special Collections is responsible for the management and maintenance of the art collection. Under the auspices of the Art and Heritage committee and in collaboration with an art consultancy firm, Special Collections formulated a structured art policy and made an inventory of all WUR art works. Every year, the indoor works are cleaned and checked for damage. If you notice damage or loss of an art work in your building, please email Special Collections.
