Claudio Minca had been awarded the prestigious Isaac Manasseh Meyer Fellowship of the National University of Singapore.

Claudio will give lectures and workshops on tourism and biopolitics: a great opportunity to strengthen the link between the Cultural Geography Group of Wageningen University and the Geography Department of the University of Singapore.

“At the Geography Department of the National University of Singapore I will give one major lecture and offer a series of other interventions in different workshops,” Claudio Minca says. “The grant also entails that I will publish an article in a top journal with one or more staff members at the National University of Singapore. I will visit the university two times: one shorter visit to attend a seminar as an invited speaker and a longer one at the end of 2016.” This fellowship is quite special. Not many are assigned, normally the Singapore University’s Geography Department assigns one of these per year, but not all years. So it is rather prestigious, also considering the ranking of the institution and in particular of the Geography Department.

Claudio Minca: "I believe this to be a great opportunity to visit a world leading institution and one of the best geography departments globally. It will hopefully help consolidating already existing links between our Cultural Geography chair group and the National University of Singapore. I am sincerely honoured to having been awarded this fellowship and excited about working for two weeks in Singapore."
