EAAP Annual Meeting in Ghent (Belgium) 2019 - Abstracts submission is now open

On behalf of the EAAP Insect Study Commission we are pleased to announce that you can now submit abstracts for the 70th Annual Meeting of EAAP - the European Federation of Animal Science.
The EAAP Annual Meeting, with around 70 scientific sessions, will be organised in Ghent (Belgium) from 26th to 30th August 2019.

To submit your abstracts, please follow the instructions available in the conference website: https://www.eaap2019.org/.

The deadline for submission of the abstract will be March 1st 2019. Only abstracts submitted using the online application are considered for publication. Authors will be informed by mid-April 2019, whether their abstracts have been accepted for presentation during the meeting.

Five scientific sessions on Insects will be organised.

For each session we will have one invited speaker and next to the invited speakers the organising committee invites you to submit abstracts for two theme sessions.

The topics of the five sessions are:

Session 1:  ‘inValuable: lessons and results from the Danish insect value chain’

Keywords: Mealworm; Industrial production; Reproduction; Nutrition; Health; Safety; Processing; Product documentation; Product development; Food.

Project session inValuable: Only invited abstracts

Session 2: ‘Insects in a circular economy’

Keywords:  Circular economy, Insects, Substrates, Insect rearing, Insect nutrition, Insect processing, Insect safety, Sustainability, Life cycle assessment socioeconomics.

Theme session: Open for abstracts.

Session 3: ‘Insects in animal feed: beyond the protein concept’

Keywords: Insects, Feed, Bio-active compounds in insects, Chitin, Antimicrobial peptides, Lauric acid, Animal health and welfare benefits, Immune response.

Theme session: Open for abstracts.

Session 4: ‘Standardisation of research methods and parameters’

Keywords: Insects, Scientific approach (method), Rearing conditions, Diet standardization, Results repeatability, Performance and quality, Large scale prediction.

Challenge session: Only invited abstracts.

Session 5: ‘Match making for research, industry, policy makers’

Event to discuss in groups with shared interests on specific themes in insect production.

Challenge session: Only invited abstracts.
