Gertie Arts of Alterra has been elected vice-president (May 2014- May 2015) and subsequently (May 2015 – May 2016) president of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC; www.setac.org) in Europe. She will be chairing the SETAC Europe Council and will be part of the Executive Committee of SETAC Europe.
SETAC is a non-profit, global organisation. Its aim is to develop Environmental Quality through Science by means of developing a range of activities in platforms, discussion groups, scientific meetings and workshops. In all these activities and fora the tripartite balance needs to be fulfilled, i.e. an equal representation of business, academia and government. Europe is one of the five geographical units of SETAC worldwide.
