International Open Access week

This week is the international Open Access week, with a diversity of activities. Just prior to the Open Access week the Library deposited nearly 6,000 Open Access publications in Narcis.

The Library deposited nearly 6,000 OA publications in Narcis. Narcis is the collated Dutch open access platform. The counter now shows 58,227 as total number of Wageningen OA publications.

An overview of the Dutch activities during the Open Access week 2014 can be found at The international Open Access week is until 26th October. The theme is Generation Open. A special mention deserves the initiatives aimed on Open Access for and by students, which  can be found at the facebook site Students for Open Access NL.

Behind the scenes

Meanwhile Dutch university libraries are negotiating better terms for the accessibility to Dutch research with the large publishing houses. Open Access is a pertinent subject in the contract negotiations since junior minister Sander Dekker put this on the agenda in his letter to the parliament.
