Leo Marcelis of the Horticulture and Product Physiology group was interviewed by the Dutch radiostation BNR Nieuwsradio, addressing the question why greenhouses are made of glass, as recently significant hail damage was caused to greenhouses.
A supercell thunderstorm, with hail as big as baseballs, destroyed at least 100 hectares of greenhouses in the provinces of Limburg and North Brabant in the South of Holland.
