Starting in January 2018, Jessica Duncan, Assistant Professor in the Rural Sociology Group, will take over from Marleen Kamperman as co-chair of the Wageningen Young Academy. Marleen is stepping down after serving her five year term as a WYA member.

Reflecting on her time as chair, Marleen stated: "Being part of WYA has been a wonderful way to learn about Wageningen University and to get to know researchers from all science groups. I think it is important that the young generation of researchers contributes to science policy and science communication: WYA is very effective in doing just that. It was great to chair and be part of such a diverse, inspiring and active group of scientists!"

Jessica, who will co-chair with Maarten Smulders said: “Marleen left big shoes to fill but I am looking forward to working with Maarten to chair this exciting, interdisciplinary group of scholars. The WYA plays an important role on campus by contributing to debate and university policy and I want to make sure we continue to do this."
